Plain-language privacy
Privacy should be understandable.
Stashi is designed so your saved links and reading history do not need to live in our cloud. This page distinguishes the public website from the desktop application.

The Stashi desktop app
Your bookmarks, tags, RSS subscriptions, downloaded feed entries, settings, and reading state are stored in a local database on your computer. Stashi currently has no account system, telemetry, cloud synchronization, advertising, or AI processing.
When metadata fetching is enabled, the app requests saved web pages and images to create previews. It also requests RSS and Atom feeds you subscribe to. Those requests reveal your IP address and normal request information to the websites you chose to contact, just as visiting them in a browser would. Opening a link sends you to that website in your default browser.
The marketing website
This website does not use advertising cookies, product analytics, session replay, fingerprinting, or behavioral tracking. Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site and may process standard request information such as IP address, browser information, requested URL, and security signals to operate and protect its network.
Private-alpha emails
If you join the private alpha, the name and email address you submit are sent directly to Buttondown, our email-list provider. Buttondown uses that information to send a confirmation message and the occasional Stashi product or alpha email. We use the list only for Stashi communications and do not sell it.
Buttondown requires email confirmation, and every message includes a way to unsubscribe. You can also ask us to remove your alpha-list information by contacting us.
Retention and your choices
Your desktop library remains under your control on your own computer. Alpha-list information remains with Buttondown until you unsubscribe, ask for deletion, or the list is retired. We may retain limited records when required for security, suppression-list, or legal purposes.
